Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 1, 2026  ยท  Applies to: Cleanse (Android)

๐Ÿ”’ Cleanse performs all analysis entirely on your device. Your photos and contacts are never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with anyone โ€” including us.

Who we are

Cleanse is developed and published by E&J Technologies. This Privacy Policy explains how the Cleanse Android application handles your data. If you have questions, contact us at privacy@enjtechnologies.com.

What data Cleanse accesses

Cleanse requests access to two categories of data on your device in order to perform its core function:

Photos & Videos

Cleanse reads your photo and video library to identify duplicate and near-duplicate files using on-device image analysis (perceptual hashing and visual similarity comparison). This access is used solely to scan for duplicates and display results to you. No photo or video file โ€” and no data derived from them โ€” is ever sent off your device.

Contacts

Cleanse reads your contact list to identify duplicate contact entries, matching by name, phone number, and email address. Write access is used only to merge or delete duplicates you explicitly confirm. No contact data is ever sent off your device.

What data Cleanse does NOT collect

Cleanse does not collect, store or transmit any of the following:

Cleanse has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no backend servers. There is no mechanism by which your data could reach us, because Cleanse makes no network requests involving your photos or contacts.

On-device storage only

Cleanse stores one file locally on your device: an analysis cache that records the results of photo analysis (perceptual hash values, sharpness scores) so that repeat scans are faster. This file contains no actual photo content โ€” only numerical values derived from image analysis. It is stored in your app's private internal storage and is automatically deleted when you uninstall Cleanse.

Deletions

When you delete photos through Cleanse, the deletion is performed by Android's own media system using the standard MediaStore API, exactly as if you had deleted the files from your gallery app. Cleanse does not handle the file deletion itself โ€” it requests deletion and Android's system completes it, including presenting Android's own confirmation dialog on supported versions.

When you merge or delete contacts through Cleanse, the change is written directly to your device's contacts database via Android's ContactsContract API. No copy of the deleted contact data is retained by Cleanse.

Third-party services

Cleanse version 1.0 contains no third-party analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or crash-reporting services. It makes no network requests to any third-party service.

If a future version of Cleanse introduces advertising or analytics (such as Google AdMob), this Privacy Policy will be updated before that version is published, and the updated policy will accurately describe what data those services collect and how it is used.

Children's privacy

Cleanse is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because Cleanse collects no personal information from any user, this policy applies equally regardless of age.

Your rights

Because Cleanse collects no personal data, there is no data held by E&J Technologies to access, correct, export, or delete. All data Cleanse touches remains on your device and is fully under your control at all times. Uninstalling Cleanse removes all locally stored app data.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy โ€” for example, if a future version of Cleanse begins collecting data it does not currently collect โ€” we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify users through the app or through the Play Store listing. Continued use of Cleanse after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
